Fashion Show~

We were lucky enough to be included in a fashion show featuring nicu grads! Mary Farris had a great time and was quite a model. It was part of a benefit tea for Nurses for Newborns and Parents Reaching out. What an honor. Things continue to go fantastic for our little miracle baby. She is no longer using her feeding tube and continues to grow slowly but surely. Plans to take her gtube out are in the works, maybe in March~ She went from 12months clothes over the summer to 4T this winter. She is talking up a storm, singing tons of songs and continues to ask the silliest questions! We have begun to cut back on homecare and she will start daycare in a few weeks. She will only be about a mile from the house which is such a relief. She can still go to preschool and ride the bus. She just loves it. She continues to do well in ballet and we can't wait for her recital in May. I can't believe how far she has come. Hard to believe that in just a few months time we will have a 4-year-old :)

Welcome to our site! Our precious baby came to us on May 25, 2008 at 10:54 am. She was only 25 weeks and weighed 1lb 3oz. Mary Farris spent 148 days in the NICU and has had 11 surgeries thus far. Feel free to follow her progress here, we are so proud of our little miracle!

Mary Farris was born with a birth defect called choanal atresia and had to be on a vent for 11 weeks. She taught herself how to breathe through her mouth, came off the vent and a short time later came off of oxygen. She had a PDA and ROP neither of which required surgery. She has done extremely well and her only lingering problem is with feeding. We are truly thankful for how far she has come and can't wait for you all to meet her in the spring.

We are truly thankful to the doctors, nurses, and RT's who cared for our girl like she was their own. We sincerely appreciate our family, friends, co-workers, church members, etc. that have been so supportive of us through this time. From prayers to food and gas money you guys have been wonderful to us!
