Changes~
Change is scary. Especially when you are talking about a baby girl that has come so far in such a short amount of time. We had a meeting with a nurse from Mary Farris' insurance today to discuss homecare. She actually has the same birth defect as Mary Farris and understands what she has gone through in relation to her feeding/breathing problems. Of course, her prematurity has made all of this much more complicated and slowed things down a bunch. She has had so much help along the way with therapy, teis, special ed, etc. Without all the assistance she would probably not have come this far. We have had homecare since she came home from the hospital to give her tube feeds and suction her along with basic care during the day while George and I are at work. That being said, Mary Farris has made so much progress in the last few months that we are at a point where we want to make some changes and start transitioning her into a more normal lifestyle. We don't want to lose her homecare altogether, but want to cut back and let her go to daycare a little to see how she will do. Unfortunately when you try to make cutbacks you risk losing it altogether. She is still in feeding therapy and it is helpful on giving us ideas but she hasn't increased her oral feedings (awake) much yet. She is still sleep feeding her high calorie formula to make up for what she doesn't eat/drink. We haven't heard about the behavior therapy referral yet but are really hoping for some ideas and tips on how to deal with her tantrums and refusals. She is currently 30lbs and 38" tall. If she maintains her weight and continues oral feeds, her tube will come out in March! Please keep her in your prayers for continued progress~
