It has been a hard last few days at the hospital. On the good side, she has gained weight. Was at 1lb 11oz 2 days ago, and is up to 14cc every 3 hours on her milk. Mary Farris has had a number of "episodes" in the last few days where she wont breathe and cant keep up her oxygen even on the ventilator. They started her on breathing treatments every 12 hours yesterday. She had a positive culture on her secretions in the breathing tube so she was started on iv antibiotics. The blood culture was ok, so they caught it early. They called the cardiologist back in to see if they missed something and her heart is still ok. They did another chest xray (3 in about 10 days) and her lungs look better. They don't really know what else to do to help her right now. Last night they went ahead and gave her another transfusion of George's blood to try to give her a boost. Hope she doesn't grow whiskers! They say it is just going to take time and growth for her to come out of this. Please continue to keep her in your prayers.
We aren't letting her have any visitors right now until she gets a little more stable.

Dr Rojas says he doesn't know who we are praying to, but it's working. Mary Farris is 16 days old today. She has had an eventful week. They called in a cardiologist for her biggest problem, the open valve in her heart. The doctor has confirmed that it has closed and she just has a murmur or vibration that is not a big deal. NO SURGERY!!! She also is off the iv fluids and taking 9cc of milk every 3 hours! Now we just have to get her off the ventilator. Please continue to keep her in your prayers, she has made a lot of progress but still has a way to go.

For those of you that don't know, Mary Farris came 15 weeks early. 1lb 30z and 11 1/2 inches long. I just wanted to update you guys on how our baby girl is doing. 9 days old today, I came home from the hospital. Missed Ralphie and my own bed, but sure was hard to leave without her. We met with Dr Rojas today, he is very optimistic. Mary Farris has a PDA and he wants to be more aggressive on closing the heart so she can make some progress. They were going to do more labs and then restart the Indomethacin. Thanks for all the love and prayers.
